To perform the MACHEREY-NAGEL 985003 NANOCOLOR Ammonium 3 Tube Test, please follow the instructions below:
1. Open a test tube from the set.
2. Using a digital piston pipette, pipette 4 mL of your sample into the test tube.
3. Add 1 NANOFIX R2 reagent to the test tube.
4. Seal the test tube and shake it vigorously.
5. Allow the reaction to occur for 15 minutes.
6. Clean the outside of the test tube.
7. Using a MACHEREY-NAGEL photometer, measure the absorbance of the solution at the specified wavelength (660 / 690 nm).
8. Record the measurement.
Please note the following additional information:
- Before every measuring series, it is recommended to measure a blank value (without any sample) and a standard as a quality control measure.
- The test is suitable for surface water, groundwater, drinking water, and slightly contaminated wastewater.
- The measuring range for NH4+ is 0.05–3.00 mg/L, and for NH4-N it is 0.04–2.30 mg/L.
- The test is based on a reaction with hypochlorite and salicylate at a pH of 12.6 in the presence of sodium nitroprusside.
- Turbidities in the sample may cause higher measurement values.
- It is important to adjust the pH of the sample to the specified range (pH 7–10 for most samples, pH 9–10 for highly buffered solutions) before analysis.
- Prior distillation is required for samples with heavy pollution.
- The test kit includes 20 test tubes (R0) and 1 NANOFIX R2 reagent.
- The shelf life of the test kit is 12 months, and it should be stored upright at a temperature of 15–25 °C.
