To use the INVICTA MK1 Clinometer, follow these steps:
1. Hold the Clinometer like a target pistol with your arm outstretched and the elbow straight.
2. Point the Clinometer at the top of the object you want to measure.
3. Press and hold the trigger until the graduated disc becomes stationary.
4. Release the trigger and bring the Clinometer down from the aim position.
5. Read the angle of elevation from the Clinometer.
6. To find the height of the object, you can use either a scale drawing or simple trigonometry.
If you choose to use a scale drawing:
- Add the height of the operator to eye level to the distance above eye level.
- Use a scale of 1cm for 2m to calculate the height of the object.
If you choose to use trigonometry:
- Multiply the base distance by the tangent of the angle of elevation.
- Add the operator's height to eye level to get the height of the object.
It is recommended to make a check reading to ensure accuracy. Keep in mind that an inaccuracy of one or two degrees can make a difference in the final answer.
Please note that the Clinometer should be used under adult supervision and is not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts that may cause a choking hazard.
