To install the RENISHAW NCi-E non-contact tool setting interface, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that you have read and understood the warranty terms and conditions provided by Renishaw.
2. Make sure that the CNC machine tool is operated by fully-trained personnel in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
3. Keep the interface clean and treat it as a precision tool.
4. Take note of the software notices provided, including the US government notice and the Renishaw software End User License Agreement (EULA).
5. Understand the intended use of the NCi-E interface, which is to be used in conjunction with NC4, NC4+, or NC4+ Blue non-contact tool setters and the NCi-6 interface. It converts continuous voltage signals from the non-contact tool setter into encoder output signals that can be read by the CNC controller.
6. Follow the safety guidelines provided, including the recommendation to use eye protection when using machine tools and the responsibility of the machine supplier to ensure adequate guards and safety interlocks are provided.
7. Ensure that the interface is installed in a position away from potential sources of electrical noise and that all connections are made correctly, following the guidelines provided in the user instructions.
8. Familiarize yourself with the dimensions, weight, power supply requirements, and other specifications of the NCi-E interface.
9. Understand the power supply requirements of the NCi-E interface, which is supplied by the NCi-6 interface and the CNC machine controller.
10. Take note of the status LEDs on the interface, which indicate the M-code A status and encoder communications status.
11. Install the NC4, NC4+, or NC4+ Blue system according to the instructions provided in the relevant installation guide.
12. Install the NCi-6 interface and then install the NCi-E interface, ensuring it is located alongside the NCi-6 interface and away from potential sources of interference.
13. Connect the NCi-E interface to the NCi-6 interface and the CNC machine tool encoder communications input using the appropriate connectors.
14. Configure the filter settings of the NCi-E interface using the switches provided.
15. Set the M-code polarity using the switches provided.
16. Supply electrical power to the NCi-E interface by following the instructions provided.
17. Perform any necessary set-up, re-alignment, and calibration of the NC4, NC4+, or NC4+ Blue unit according to the relevant installation guide.
18. Follow the maintenance guidelines provided, which include keeping the external surfaces clean and contacting an authorized Renishaw Service Centre for further repairs or maintenance.
