Performing the initial setup and start-up of the Burnham ALTAC Series Combi Gas Boiler is designed to be simple and quick. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Ensure that the gas and electrical supply to the boiler are turned off before starting any work.
2. Remove the front and side panels of the boiler to access the internal components easily.
3. Check the gas supply pressure and ensure it meets the minimum requirements (2.5 in. wc for natural gas, 8.0 in. wc for LP gas).
4. Connect the boiler to the appropriate venting system, which can be CPVC, PVC, or polypropylene.
5. Install the provided AltaFastPipe, which is a primary/secondary piping header, included with combi models. This component has temperature/pressure gauges and supply/return connections.
6. Connect the necessary thermostats and domestic hot water (DHW) supply.
7. Once all the connections are made, turn on the gas and electrical supply to the boiler.
8. The boiler control system is self-diagnostic and will automatically calibrate itself based on the environmental conditions, component wear, gas pressure, and vent pressure. No manual throttle or offset adjustments are required.
9. The boiler control system also features rate-based temperature reset, which continually adjusts the boiler operation for comfort, efficiency, and long boiler life. This feature does not require an outdoor sensor.
10. The ALTAC Series Combi Gas Boiler has a no-touch combustion setup, engineered for a five-minute start-up. The boiler control system will handle the combustion management automatically.
11. Once the boiler is started, you can select the desired mode of operation, such as economy or comfort/recirculation mode, for the domestic hot water (DHW) supply.
12. The boiler is designed to provide virtually instantaneous DHW response time and maintain the DHW temperature under all demand conditions.
