To connect the Cortex EBC wiring harness to the PCM connectors in your Mustang GT, follow the instructions provided in the manual. The PCM is located in the passenger side of the engine bay next to the fuse box and has three connectors: Transmission, Engine, and Cowl.
1. Identify the PCM connectors: When the PCM is installed in the car, the Transmission connector will be at the top, the Engine connector will be in the middle, and the Cowl connector will be at the bottom.
2. Make the following connections between the Cortex EBC and PCM:
- +12V Power: Connect the red Cortex wire to the Switched PCM Power pin (C-67) in the Cowl connector. The PCM wire color for this pin is Green/Blue.
- Ground: Connect the two black Cortex wires to the chassis near the EBC. There are no specific pins or wires for this connection.
- Engine Speed: Connect the pink Cortex wire to the Intake Cam Position Sensor (CMP21) pin (E-42) in the Engine connector. The PCM wire color for this pin is Yellow/Blue.
- Vehicle Speed: Connect the green Cortex wire to the Output Shaft Speed pin (T-14) in the Transmission connector. The PCM wire color for this pin is Brown/Green.
- General-Purpose: Connect the orange Cortex wire to the Throttle Position 1 pin (E-39) in the Engine connector. The PCM wire color for this pin is Brown.
3. Configure vehicle settings: Follow the instructions in the manual to configure the vehicle settings on the Cortex EBC.
- RPM Detection: Set the mode to RPM, Pulses Per Cycle to 7, and Rotations Per Cycle to 2.
- Gear Detection: Follow the steps in the Setup - Gear Detection section of the Help utility to determine the correct EVS ratio settings for gear detection.
- Speed Detection: Follow the steps in the Setup - Vehicle Speed Detection section of the Help utility to determine the correct Pulses Per Mile setting. Note that gear detection setup should be performed before calibrating the Pulses Per Mile setting.
- Throttle Position Detection: Follow the steps in the Setup - Throttle Position Detection section of the Help utility to determine the correct Closed TPS Voltage and Open TPS Voltage settings.
By following these instructions, you should be able to successfully connect the Cortex EBC wiring harness to the PCM connectors in your Mustang GT and configure the necessary vehicle settings for optimal performance.
