To install the ASHCROFT S5500 Stainless Steel Gas Actuated Thermometer, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the device is suitable for your intended application and that the necessary thermowell is in place to protect the thermometer stem.
2. If needed, install a bracket to support the gauge if the metering pipe cannot provide adequate support.
3. If the device has a blow-out, make sure there is a minimum spacing of 20 mm to the rear.
4. The operating temperature range of the device is -30°C to +80°C.
5. Choose an appropriate location for installation, such as a flat wall, mounting plate, pipe, panel, or board.
6. By default, the device is calibrated for vertical installation. If you need to install it at an angle (up to ±5°), you will need to adjust the zero point on the indicator.
7. If using an every angle connection, follow the instructions provided in the manual to position the sensor correctly.
8. When connecting the device, use only authorized and qualified specialist staff.
9. Use the mechanical process connection provided with the device, following the order code on the device type label.
10. If connecting the device without a thermowell, make sure to depressurize the pipes before installation.
11. Avoid applying mechanical force to the stem and ensure that the "S" lengths of the thermometer and thermowell match to avoid contact against the base of the thermowell.
12. Consider using a thermal transfer medium (heat conducting paste) in the thermowell to improve reaction time and reduce measurement errors caused by thermal transfer.
13. The minimum radius for the capillary line is 40 mm (1½˝). Protect the capillary line from damage and coil any excess neatly without cutting it.
14. Do not disassemble the thermometer system (Bourdon tube, capillary line, and temperature sensing bulb).
15. Mount the device using the correct open-jawed wrench, avoiding twisting the device itself. Do not insert moist or oily stems into hot thermowells.
16. Once the device is installed, check the seal on the thermowell and perform a zero point adjustment if necessary.
17. Regularly check the device for function and calibration, adjusting the testing cycles based on operating and ambient conditions.
18. If the device becomes defective or faulty, take it out of service and contact the manufacturer's Repairs Department for further assistance.
19. When demounting the device, depressurize the lines and ensure the plant is secured against being switched on again.
20. Dispose of or recycle the device and its components in accordance with applicable regulations.
