To set up the SME 1515 MK2 Turntable, follow these steps:
1. Unpack the turntable and check all items against the packing list provided in the manual.
2. Place the turntable on a sturdy table or audio stand in its final position.
3. Ensure that the main chassis (lower chassis) is level in both the lateral and longitudinal planes using a spirit/bubble level. Adjust the height of the adjustable feet as needed.
4. Remove the transit locks by turning the screws anti-clockwise with the supplied hex wrench.
5. Place the drive belt over the large driven pulley and ensure it is free from twists and properly aligned with the motor pulley.
6. Carefully place the platter over the turntable spindle, ensuring that both mating surfaces are clean. Rotate the platter by hand to position the belt on the pulleys.
7. Set the suspension height by using the 3mm hex wrench to rotate the jacking screws in the center hole of each upper gallery cover. The correct suspension height is achieved when a 3.5mm clearance is achieved between the sub-chassis and column base.
8. Connect the power unit to the speed control unit and turntable using the provided connection cables with LEMO connectors. Ensure the cables are connected correctly.
9. Connect the AC mains power cable to the power unit and set the mains voltage to match your local electricity supply.
10. Install and set up the tonearm according to the instructions provided in the tonearm manual.
11. Power on the turntable by pressing the power ON/OFF button on the rear of the power unit.
12. Use the speed control unit to adjust the speed settings of 33 1/3 and 45rpm. The stroboscopic disc provided can be used to check the speed accuracy.
13. To play a record, place the record spindle washer, record, and clamp onto the turntable. Lower the stylus onto the record using the control lever.
14. When not in use, return the tonearm to the armrest for safety.
