To assemble the ALPHA HexTenna Portable UHF VHF HF Antenna, follow the steps outlined in the owner's manual:
1. Dipole Assembly:
a. Install the 'Hub' on the optional Tripod using the included 'Top of Mast Mount'.
b. If using a guyed mast, install the 'Top of Mast Mount' on a 1.25 inch mast.
c. Install the 'Dipole Elements'.
2. Yagi Assembly:
a. Install both 'Hubs' on the 'Boom'.
b. Install the 'Reflector Plug'.
c. If using a tripod, install the 'Boom' on the optional Tripod. If using a mast, install it with the 'Top of Mast Mount'.
d. Install the 'Reflector Elements'.
e. Install the 'Driven Elements'.
3. Vertical Assembly:
a. Install the 'Hub' on the optional Tripod or the included 'Top of Mast Mount'.
b. If using a guyed mast, install the 'Top of Mast Mount' on a 1.25 inch mast.
c. Install the 'Vertical Element'.
d. Install the 'Counterpoise Element'.
After assembling the antenna, it is important to adjust the element length to tune for the lowest SWR (Standing Wave Ratio). The manual does not provide specific instructions for adjusting the element length, but it suggests that the deployed length of the elements can vary based on ground conditions.
To optimize the antenna's performance, you may need to experiment with adjusting the element lengths.
