To install the Sylvan E71 Quest xxxx Set, follow these steps:

1. Mark the door: Use the "Door Marker" provided to mark the centers for installing the lock and latch. Make sure to use the correct backset (2-3/8" or 2-3/4") that matches the lock you purchased.

2. Bore two holes: Using the marked points as centers, bore a 2-1/8" hole in the door face and a 15/16" hole in the door edge. Cut out the edge of the door to allow the latch face to be flush with the door edge. Mount the latch using the provided screws. Note: If you have an adjustable latch, the latch hole diameter should be 1".

3. Position the strike: Close the door until the latch touches the jamb to locate the strike in the jamb. Open the door and extend a line from the mark to the door stop. Measure half of the door thickness from the door stop and vertically mark the drill point center for the strike. Drill a 15/16" latch hole in the frame, 9/16" deep. Chisel 1/16" deep for the strike, matching the 15/16" hole in the door jamb. Insert and tighten the screws.

4. Install the strike: When installing the strike plate, ensure it is set to the same height as the latch. The latch bolt should fit into the strike case, while the small guard bolt (if present) should not go into the strike. Install the provided screws. The adjustable tang allows for bending in or out to eliminate excessive looseness between the door and stop.
