To install and set up the Merten 580692 Wind Monitoring Unit Sensor, please follow these steps:
1. Mounting the sensor: The wind sensor should be installed on the roof or outside wall of the building in a position suitable for measuring wind strength. Ensure that it is not mounted in the slipstream of any objects. Use the included screws and plugs for installation.
2. Connecting the sensor: Use a shielded wire (recommended: JY-ST-Y 2x2x0.6) to connect the wind sensor to the wind sensor interface. Remove the lid of the connection housing and secure the device using two screws. Insert the cables into the connection housing and connect them as shown in the manual. If low voltage circuits are connected to the floating make contact, observe the VDE 0100 regulations.
3. Selecting the wind sensor: The wind sensor interface can be connected to two different types of wind sensors. Set the switch to position II (factory setting).
4. Selecting test mode/wind strength evaluation: Use the rotary switch to activate the test mode (positions 1 and 2) or define the wind strength at which the blinds are raised (positions 3 - 0). The wind strength can be set in Beaufort (Bft) units.
5. Test mode: In test mode (positions 1 and 2), the optical display (test LED) will light up after a maximum of one second. If the rotary sensor is rotated, the test LED will flicker at the frequency of the rotational speed, indicating that the unit is working.
6. Wind strength evaluation: Positions 3 - 0 define the wind strength at which the blinds are raised. After exiting the test mode, it takes the unit about 4 seconds to evaluate the set wind force. The selected setting will be applied after a maximum of 4.5 minutes after switching from one wind strength to another.
7. Technical data: The Merten 580692 Wind Monitoring Unit Sensor operates on a supply voltage of 230 V AC, 50 Hz. It has a floating contact output for controlling a blind control insert. The response time after exceeding the selected wind strength is about 15 seconds, and the overshoot time is about 15 minutes.
