To install the NICOR CLR6-10-UNV CLR Commercial Recessed LED Downlight, follow these steps:

1. If you have an existing frame:
a. Remove the existing lamp, trim, and socket cap.
b. Remove the J-Box cover plate from the existing lamp ballast and disconnect all wires from the ballast. Remove the socket cap metal conduit (MC) cable from the J-Box.
c. Fasten the LED retrofit kit MC cable to the J-Box using the included MC connector.
d. Make the wiring connections to the junction box: connect the black wire to the line wire, the white wire to the neutral wire, and the green wire to the ground wire.
e. Route and connect the purple and grey 0-10V dimming control wires according to the dimmer instructions and electrical code.
f. Put back the J-Box cover plate (with the lamp ballast still attached).
g. Lift upward on the retention tabs while pushing the retrofit kit through the rough-in, release the retention tabs, and push the trim flush to the ceiling for a secure fit.
h. Turn on the power and verify proper operation.

2. If you don't have an existing frame:
a. Identify the fixture location and cut a rough-in hole. For CLR6, cut a 5½” to 7” diameter hole, and for CLR8, cut a 7¼” to 9¼” diameter hole.
b. Fasten the LED retrofit kit MC cable to a field-installed J-Box per the local electrical code using a standard MC connector.
c. Make the wiring connections to the junction box: connect the black wire to the line wire, the white wire to the neutral wire, and the green wire to the ground wire.
d. Route and connect the purple and grey 0-10V dimming control wires according to the dimmer instructions and electrical code.
e. Install the J-Box cover plate.
f. Lift upward on the retention tabs while pushing the retrofit kit through the rough-in, release the retention tabs, and push the trim flush to the ceiling for a secure fit.
g. Turn on the power and verify proper operation.
