To install the ITC 86472-XX Stow and Go Assist Handle, follow these steps:
1. Determine the installation location for the handle, ensuring there is a solid support or backer material behind it. If necessary, use a through bolt for added support. If the backing material allows, use all four bolt locations. If not, use the two innermost holes on each end cap as a minimum.
2. Remove the end cap covers, which are supplied but not fully clipped into place.
3. Mark the xxxx holes through the end caps. Note that the standard handle measures 27.25" and the mini handle measures 23" from the top of one cap to the bottom of the other. It is recommended to use a 1/16" drill bit when using #10 screws to drill the pilot holes.
4. If desired, apply silicone sealant to create a seal around the xxxx holes before installing the screws.
5. Using #10 screws (not provided), install the end caps in the pre-drilled holes. It is recommended to use all four holes on each end cap, with the innermost holes toward the door always being used. If there is no backer, you may need to use a bolt, large washer, nut, and plate (not provided).
6. Align the end cap cover into the channel and slide it on until it snaps into place.
To operate the handle, swing it to the right 90°. To return it to the stowed position, gently pull up on the handle and rotate it to the left until secure. To remove the end cap cover in the field, press the tab with a flat head screwdriver while pulling the cap off at the same time.
