To connect the tp-link Tapo S500D Smart WiFi Light Switch Dimmer to your home's electrical system, please follow the steps below:
1. Turn off the circuit breaker for the switch you want to replace.
2. Remove the old wallplate of the wall switch and identify the Ground, Neutral, Line, and Load wires.
- Ground wire: Usually green or copper.
- Neutral wire: Usually white and not connected to a dumb switch.
- Line wire: Usually black and coming from the circuit breaker.
- Load wire: Usually black and connected to the light.
If you are unsure about the wiring, it is recommended to consult a qualified electrician.
3. Disconnect the wires from the old switch.
4. Turn on the circuit breaker and use a voltage detector to identify the energized wire (Line wire).
Take necessary precautions to avoid electric shocks.
5. Turn off the circuit breaker again and label the Line and Load wires.
6. Connect the wires to the smart dimmer switch as shown in the user guide.
7. Line up the switch with the mounting holes and secure it with screws.
8. Attach the wallplate to complete the wiring process.
Please note that working with electrical systems can be dangerous, and it is important to follow all safety precautions and consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about any step.
