To reset the DURALINE P0841 Max Register Thermometer before each use, please follow these steps:
1. Shake the thermometer until the column registers approximately ambient room temperature.
- This step ensures that the thermometer is ready for a new temperature reading.
2. Retract the mercury column by "shaking" the thermometer.
- Hold the thermometer firmly and shake it vigorously, similar to how you would shake a fever thermometer.
- The shaking generates centrifugal force, which forces the mercury column back through the constriction and resets the thermometer.
3. Do not be concerned about the apparent separation of the mercury column below the constriction.
- While the temperature indication is above ambient temperature, it is normal for the mercury column to appear separated below the constriction.
- This separation does not affect the accuracy of the indication, and the mercury will rejoin after shaking down to ambient temperature.
It is important to reset the thermometer before each use to ensure accurate temperature readings.
