To install the Netzer DS-25 17 Bit Resolution Absolute Encoder, follow these steps:
1. Encoder Mounting:
- Attach the encoder rotor to the host shaft using a dedicated shoulder, a xxxx , and a washer or circular spring.
- Center the encoder stator and attach it to the host stator using three encoder clamps.
2. Encoder Stator/Rotor Relative Position:
- The recommended distance between the shaft shoulder and stator mounting recess should be 1.4 mm nominal.
- For ease of mechanical mounting compensation, use rotor shims to adjust the distance.
- Mechanical compensation using 50 um shims below the rotor can increase the amplitude level.
3. Electrical Interconnection:
- Connect the encoder with a digital interface (SSi or BiSS-C) or set it up in setup mode using the Netzer Communication Protocol (NCP).
- Follow the provided color code for the interface wires.
4. Electrical Connection and Grounding:
- Do not connect the cable shield to the power supply return line.
- Ground the host shaft to avoid interference and encoder internal noise.
5. Software Installation:
- Install the Electric Encoder Explorer (EEE) software on a computer running MS Windows 7/10.
- Ensure the minimum requirements are met.
6. Mounting Verification:
- Run the Electric Encoder Explorer tool (EEE) and verify successful communication with the encoder.
- Perform mechanical installation verification to ensure proper mounting.
7. Calibration:
- Perform offset calibration to compensate for the DC offset of the sine and cosine signals.
- Use the Electric Encoder Explorer tool to collect data while rotating the shaft.
- Perform CAA calibration to align the coarse/fine channels by collecting data from each point.
8. Setting the Encoder Zero Point:
- Rotate the shaft to the desired zero mechanical position.
- Use the "Calibration" button in the Electric Encoder Explorer tool to set the current position as zero.
9. Jitter Test:
- Perform a jitter test to evaluate the quality of the installation.
- Higher jitter may indicate system noise or installation issues.
