To install the KODLiN K66026 Lift-Kit on your M8 Softail model, please follow the instructions provided in the instruction manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Securely raise the motorcycle at the rear section of the frame and jack it up enough that the rear wheel is slightly off the ground.
2. Remove the under seat remote pre-load adjuster from the cross member.
3. If you have the remote adjuster with a xxxx , you will also need to remove the wire caddy and battery.
4. Remove the seat and upper seat crossmember.
5. Set the preload on the rear shock to the lowest setting.
6. Loosen the clamp bolt for the lower shock bolt.
7. Remove all shock bolts and remove the shock.
8. Compress the shock and remove the lower shock mount with a shock tool (such as the KODLiN Compression Tool K66030).
For the lift-kit assembly and shock installation:
1. Apply medium strength thread locker (such as blue Loctite®) to all stock bolts before installation.
2. Install the KODLiN part K66026, ensuring that the lock nut is tightened and the mounting holes are aligned with the top shock end.
3. Carefully release compression on the shock spring, making sure the spring and components are properly seated and centered. If needed, compress the spring to realign the parts before releasing compression again.
4. Apply grease to the shock bearing of the KODLiN mount and install the bushing into the KODLiN shock mount.
5. Reinstall the shock and torque the upper shock bolt to 80-90 ft/lbs. (108-122 Nm) and the lower shock bolt to 70-75 ft/lbs. (95-100 Nm).
6. Tighten the clamp bolt of the lower shock bolt to 12-15 ft/lbs. (16-20 Nm).
7. Install the upper seat crossmember and seat. Mount the remote pre-load adjuster.
8. Reinstall the battery and wire caddy if they were removed.
9. Adjust the shock preload according to the instructions in your "Owner's Manual."
10. Before going on a test ride, recheck that all hardware is securely tightened.
11. It's important to note that periodic maintenance and inspection are required, and it is the installer's responsibility to ensure that all fasteners are tightened before operating the motorcycle. We recommend following the manufacturer's torque specifications and checking the belt tension for proper tension.
Please refer to the instruction manual for any additional details or specific information regarding the installation process.
