To install the headshell and counterweight on the Gemini TT-1200 Belt Drive Turntable, please follow these steps:
1. Headshell Installation:
a. Insert the headshell into the front of the tubular tonearm.
b. While holding the headshell firmly in a horizontal position, turn the locking nut clockwise until the headshell is locked in place. Be sure not to overtighten the locking nut.
2. Counterweight Installation:
a. Slide the counterweight onto the rear of the tonearm with the numbered stylus gauge facing forward.
b. Twist the counterweight clockwise lightly to xxxx it onto the rear of the tonearm.
3. Adjusting Horizontal Zero Balance and Stylus Pressure:
a. Without touching the stylus tip, remove the stylus protector if your cartridge has a detachable one.
b. Release the arm clamp and lift the tonearm off the armrest.
c. Counterclockwise advancement of the counterweight will cause the cartridge side of the tonearm to be lowered, while clockwise advancement will cause the opposite. Adjust the counterweight clockwise or counterclockwise as needed until the tonearm is balanced horizontally. You can easily tell this by watching the front point where the tonearm "floats" freely.
d. Place the tonearm on the armrest and lock it in place with the arm clamp.
e. With the tonearm located on the armrest, hold the counterweight steady with one hand while rotating the pressure ring until the numeral "0" on the ring aligns with the center line on the tonearm rear shaft. This completes the horizontal zero balance.
f. Re-float the tonearm to ensure horizontal zero balance. If the zero balance has not been maintained, repeat steps 3c-3e.
