To install the HEARTH CRAFT Rainbow Zero Clearance Fireplace Door on your factory-built fireplace, follow these steps:
1. Carefully unwrap the fireplace door.
2. Place the door into the opening so that the fireplace door face is even with the face of the fireplace.
3. Using a pencil, mark the hole locations through the inside of the door frame.
4. Remove the fireplace door from the opening. Use a 1/16" drill to drill holes in the marked locations through the sheet metal.
5. Place the door back into the opening. Using the screws provided, xxxx the fireplace door to the fireplace through the frame holes and into the pre-drilled holes in the firebox.
Note: Self-drilling screws are provided to eliminate the need for pre-drilling and to speed up the installation. A screwgun with a magnetic tip is required. Take care to avoid slipping off the xxxx and damaging the fireplace door.
If you have an aluminum fireplace door and it does not hang properly after installation, you may need to make adjustments. Here's how:
1. After installing the fireplace door, check how the doors operate and the gaps at the center and between the glass doors and the frame.
2. If the gaps are the same but the tops are not in alignment, you may need to move the bottom frame over to bring the tops of the glass doors into alignment. Loosen the nut behind both of the bottom brackets and shift the bottom of the door over until the glass doors are in adjustment. Retighten the nuts.
3. If the gap between the glass at the center is different top to bottom, you will need to adjust the hinges. The gap should be approximately 1/16" between the glass doors at the center (1/8" for doors for factory-built fireplaces).
4. Determine which hinge is out of alignment. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the xxxx that holds the hinge to the frame and slide the hinge over slightly. Retighten the xxxx .
5. Check the door operation and repeat the hinge adjustment procedure if necessary.
