To install the Knightsbridge IP65 Microwave Sensor, please follow these steps:
1. Ensure that you have read and understood the safety instructions provided in the manual. This product must be installed in accordance with the latest edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671) and current Building Regulations. If you are unsure, consult a qualified electrician.
2. Prior to installation or maintenance, isolate the mains power.
3. Consider the IP (Ingress Protection) rating of the product when deciding on the installation location. The IP65 rating indicates that the sensor is protected against dust and low-pressure water jets from any direction.
4. Note that microwave sensors may not be suitable for all installations, such as enclosed spaces, as they can detect movement through non-metallic surfaces like plasterboard and thin doors.
5. Provide power to the required point of installation, following the correct cabling methods outlined in BS7671. Use suitable IP rated junction boxes where necessary.
6. Drill or knock out a 20mm hole on the side of the fitting where you want to install the sensor.
7. Remove the nut from the sensor housing and insert the sensor into the hole. Refit the nut and tighten it securely.
8. The sensor comes pre-wired with approximately 0.5m single-core cables. Carefully wire the sensor, ensuring correct polarity, as follows: Live In (brown), Neutral In (blue), Neutral Out (white), Live Out (black).
9. To change the DIP switch settings, unscrew the top cap of the sensor by turning it anti-clockwise.
10. After changing the DIP switch settings, replace the cap, ensuring a tight seal is achieved.
11. Switch on the power and check for correct operation.
