To clean the smoke duct system of the Nordpeis PN-SAL05-100 Salzburg S Corner Out Smallest Heat Retaining Fire, it is recommended to sweep the ducts once a year to maintain efficiency. Soot can accumulate in the ducts, reducing efficiency and affecting the flame control.
To clean the ducts, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the fireplace is cold before cleaning.
2. Remove the Thermotte baffle plate and the two Thermotte side panels.
3. Insert a cleaning brush both upwards and downwards to remove soot that has collected in the bottom.
4. Use an ash-cleaner to remove the soot from the bottom by opening the Thermotte lid in the floor of the combustion chamber.
5. If you have a hot-plate, remove it to access the flue pipe directly.
6. Clean the flue pipe by accessing it through the door and the center canal for the basic version.
7. Once the cleaning is complete, reassemble the baffle plate and side panels.
It is important to note that the fireplace must always be cold before cleaning. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with cleaning the smoke duct system yourself, it is recommended to contact a professional chimney sweep for assistance.
