When installing the GECI MOD 2 and 4 battery charger, it is important to follow the instructions provided in the user manual. Here are the installation guidelines:
1. Choose a suitable location: Install the battery charger away from the battery to prevent damage from gases emitted during charging. Ensure proper ventilation by leaving at least 30mm clearance around the vents. Position the charger vertically using the fixture holes if available.
2. Avoid specific conditions: Do not install the battery charger outdoors, expose it to rain or water splashes, or place it near heat sources or areas with high concentrations of dust. Avoid installing it near potential sources of flammable material or on combustible surfaces like wooden shelves or walls.
3. Consider battery safety: Follow the safety instructions provided by the battery manufacturer. Avoid working near a lead-acid battery while charging, as it generates explosive gases. Only charge compatible batteries such as Lead-Acid, GEL, AGM, Lithium Polymer, or Lithium Ion batteries.
4. Additional precautions for lithium batteries: When charging Lithium Polymer and Lithium Ion batteries, always use a Battery Management System (BMS) that complies with safety regulations. The battery charger's tolerance thresholds for over-voltage and overcharging are for system safeguarding and do not replace the BMS's safety functions.
5. Check cables, grid, and earthing: Before use, inspect the mains cable and battery cables for any damage. Replace damaged cables with the help of a qualified technician. Ensure the battery charger is connected to an earthed socket and that the socket is protected by an appropriate electrical device. Do not open the battery charger as there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
Please refer to the user manual for more detailed instructions and diagrams specific to your GECI MOD 2 or 4 battery charger model.
