To install the Nidec R220 AVR Automatic Voltage Regulator, please follow the steps below:
1. Read the entire installation and maintenance manual before using the machine for the first time.
2. Ensure that all necessary operations and interventions on the machine are performed by a qualified technician.
3. Contact the technical support service if you require any additional information.
4. Take note of the warning symbols in the manual that indicate potential risks of accidents.
5. Make sure that all servicing or repair operations on the AVR are carried out by personnel trained in electrical and mechanical components.
6. Disconnect the AC power supply when the generator is driven at a frequency below 28 Hz for more than 30 seconds with an analogue AVR.
7. Ensure that the R220 AVR is installed inside a unit that provides a minimum total protection of IP20. It should be installed on Nidec alternators in the appropriate location to have a higher degree of protection than IP20 when viewed externally.
8. Check the electrical connections as shown in the attached wiring diagram.
9. Verify that the ST3 frequency selection jumper is set to the correct frequency.
10. Connect the ST4 jumper or the remote adjustment potentiometer if required.
11. The machine is tested and set at the factory. When using it for the first time with no load, ensure that the drive speed is correct and stable as indicated on the nameplate.
12. Replace all access panels or covers after operational testing.
13. The only adjustments that should be made are on the AVR itself.
14. Follow the specific potentiometer settings for the SHUNT system as mentioned in the manual.
15. For special types of use, ensure that the excitation circuit E+, E- is not left open when the machine is running to prevent AVR damage.
16. Refer to the manual for troubleshooting electrical faults and take appropriate actions based on the symptoms and causes provided.
17. For spare parts orders or technical support requests, contact the technical support service or the nearest contact provided in the manual.
18. Dispose of and recycle the alternator components according to local legislation and separate any electronic materials, diode bridge, surge suppressor, and major plastic components for proper treatment.
