To install the Nidec R250 Automatic Voltage Regulator, please follow the instructions provided in the installation and maintenance manual. Here is a general overview of the installation process:
1. Safety Measures: Before starting the installation, read the entire installation and maintenance manual. All operations should be performed by a qualified technician.
2. Supply: The R250 AVR is designed for use with an alternator with Shunt excitation. Make sure the connections are properly made according to the wiring diagram provided.
3. U/F Function and LAM: The U/F function and LAM settings are selected using the potentiometer. The jumper settings must correspond to the rated operating frequency of the alternator to avoid damaging it.
4. AVR Options: If you want to use a remote voltage adjustment potentiometer, remove the ST4 jumper and wire up the external potentiometer properly.
5. LAM Characteristics: The Load Acceptance Module (LAM) is integrated into the AVR and helps regulate voltage during load impacts. It can be adjusted to 13% or 25%. The LAM function should be set approximately 2 Hz below the lowest frequency in the steady state to avoid voltage oscillations.
6. Electrical Checks: Before starting the AVR, check that all connections are properly made and that the jumper settings correspond to the operating frequency. Also, check if the remote adjustment potentiometer has been connected.
7. Settings: The initial potentiometer positions for voltage setting and remote voltage setting should be adjusted as specified in the manual. Slowly adjust the voltage potentiometer until the output voltage reaches its rated value. Make stability settings with the designated potentiometer.
8. Special Type of Use: Be cautious not to leave the excitation circuit E+, E- open when the machine is running to avoid AVR damage.
