To install the Danfoss FIA-140B DN 50-100 Strainer, follow these steps:
1. Note that the strainer housing does not come equipped with a strainer insert or accessories at delivery.
2. Install the strainer with the top cover downwards, and ensure that the flow is directed towards the top cover as indicated by the arrow on the strainer housing.
3. Insert the strainer insert after welding.
4. Design the piping system to avoid liquid traps and reduce the risk of hydraulic pressure caused by thermal expansion.
5. Protect the strainer from pressure transients like "liquid hammer" in the system.
6. Ensure that the flow direction is towards the top cover as indicated by the arrow on the side of the valve body. Flow in the opposite direction is not acceptable.
7. Remove the top cover before welding to prevent damage to the gasket between the strainer housing and top cover.
8. Use materials and welding methods compatible with the valve housing material.
9. Clean the strainer housing internally to remove welding debris after welding and before reassembling the strainer.
10. Do not mount the strainer in systems where the outlet side is open to the atmosphere. The outlet side must be connected to the system or properly capped off.
11. If brazing, use Ag40 minimum 450 - 700 °C filler or better suitable for the working pressure. Follow the recommended brazing procedure.
12. Remove welding debris and dirt from pipes and strainer housing before assembly.
13. Check that the strainer insert has the right size before inserting it in the top cover. Ensure that the gasket is undamaged.
14. Place the strainer insert from underneath. It has a slight force fit into the housing, and no gaskets or O-rings are used.
15. If magnet inserts have been chosen as an accessory, fit them on the top cover before replacing the cover.
16. Tighten the top cover with a torque wrench to the values indicated in the table provided. Do not exceed the maximum torque stated.
17. If the drain valve has been chosen as an accessory, replace the drain plug with the drain valve.
18. After installation and assembly, protect the external surface of the strainer housing against corrosion with a suitable protective coating.
19. When mounting the accessory filter bag, ensure it is placed correctly in the strainer to allow the flow to go into the filter bag cavity and out.
20. Before servicing the strainer, isolate it from the system and drain CO₂ to prevent large formation of dry ice. Check for refrigerant pressure before unscrewing and removing the top cover. The strainer insert can be removed without tools.
21. Clean the strainer insert using an appropriate solvent by flushing and brushing. Do not use strong acids. Wipe or blow dry the insert before inspection. Replace the insert if damaged or if sediments cannot be removed.
22. Remove any dirt from the housing before assembling the strainer.
23. When replacing the gasket for the top cover and drain plug, check that the strainer insert is correctly placed before remounting the top cover and bolts.
24. Tighten the top cover bolts and purge xxxx according to the torque values provided in the table.
25. Use only original Danfoss parts, including gaskets, for replacement.
26. Charge CO₂ gas via the top cover connection to prevent large formation of dry ice when charging with CO₂ liquid or equalizing with system pressure.
Please refer to the manual for more detailed instructions and specific torque values.
