To install the Danfoss ICLX 100-150 2-Step Solenoid Valve, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the valve is suitable for the refrigerant being used. It is compatible with all common non-flammable refrigerants, including R717 and R744 (CO2), and all non-corrosive gases/liquids. Flammable hydrocarbons are not recommended.
2. The valve is designed for a temperature range of -60/+120°C (-76/+248°F) and a maximum working pressure of 52 bar g (754 psi g).
3. The ICLX valve is used in suction lines for opening against high differential pressure, such as after hot gas defrost in large industrial refrigeration systems with ammonia, fluorinated refrigerants, or CO2.
4. The valve opens in two steps: step one opens to approximately 10% of the capacity when the pilot solenoid valves are activated, and step two opens automatically after the pressure differential across the valve reaches approximately 1 bar.
5. The external pressure applied to the ICLX should always be 1.5 bar higher than the inlet pressure of the valve. This will give the valve a MOPD (Maximum Operating Pressure Differential) of 28 bar. If the external pressure is 2 bar higher than the inlet pressure, the MOPD of the ICLX will be 40 bar.
6. The ICLX valve is a normally closed design. Ensure that the EVM NC pilot is mounted in the pilot port marked NC in the top cover, EVM NO in port NO, and the external pressure to E. Both pilots should be energized simultaneously for normal operation.
7. The valve requires two IP67 coils: EVM NC requires a 10W ac (or higher) coil for MOPD up to 21 bar, and EVM NO requires a 10W ac (or higher) coil.
8. The valve must be installed with the arrow in the direction of the flow. The top cover can be rotated 4x90° in relation to the valve body.
9. The valve must be installed with the spindle in an upwards position at 15°/15° for ICLX 150. For ICLX 100 and 125, the pilots must point in one of the directions shown in the manual.
10. During installation, ensure that the external pilot line is connected to the upper side of the main line to prevent dirt and oil from entering the pilot line.
11. Avoid welding debris and dirt in the valve body and function module. The valve body must be free from external loads after installation.
12. The valve can be disassembled for service purposes by skilled and trained refrigeration engineers. Follow the instructions in the manual for disassembly, maintenance, and replacement of parts.
