To use the HOVERTECH Hoversling Split Leg as an air-assisted transfer mattress, follow these steps:
1. Verify that all brakes are engaged before transfer.
2. Use a minimum of two caregivers during air-assisted patient transfers.
3. For in-bed air-assisted positioning tasks, more than one caregiver may be needed. Raise side rails with one caregiver.
4. Plug the HoverTech Air Supply power cord into an electrical outlet.
5. Insert the hose nozzle into one of the two hose entries at the foot end of the Hoversling Split Leg and snap it into place.
6. Ensure that transfer surfaces are as close as possible and lock all wheels.
7. If possible, transfer from a higher surface to a lower surface.
8. Turn on the HoverTech Air Supply.
9. Push the inflated Hoversling Split Leg at an angle, either headfirst or feet-first. Once halfway across, the opposite caregiver should grasp the closest handles and pull to the desired location.
10. Ensure the patient is centered on the receiving equipment before deflation.
11. Turn off the Air Supply and employ the bed/stretcher rails. Unbuckle the patient safety strap.
Note: When using the 50" Hoversling Split Leg, two air supplies may be used for inflation.
