To connect and use the Velleman VM116 USB Controlled DMX Interface, follow these steps:
1. If you want to use the stand-alone test function, open the housing of the interface and connect a 9V battery using the battery snap. Insert the battery into the battery compartment and close the housing.
2. Connect the DMX interface to your computer using the provided USB cable.
3. Install the software by browsing through the CD and opening the K8062 - VM116 folder. Check the appropriate PDF files for further information.
4. The "DMX Light Player" software is installed by default in the folder "c:\program files\DMX". You can also find the latest version of the software on the Velleman website.
5. If you want to use the stand-alone test mode, do not connect the unit to the USB cable. Press the test button (SW1) to turn on the unit. The power LED will turn on, and the unit will start sending DMX code "0" on all 512 DMX channels.
6. Press the test button again to increment the code on all channels. Each button press increases the code by 1. The "DMX signal" LED will start to light periodically when the test button is pressed multiple times.
7. Press the test button 256 times to roll back the internal counter to 0, and the unit will start sending code "0" on all channels again. If you have a dimmer connected as a test equipment, you should see the intensity of the light increase with each button press.
8. To turn off the power, press and hold the test button for about 3 seconds until the power LED goes off.
Please note that all repairs should be done by qualified technicians, and the module should be used indoors only. Make sure to read and follow the safety instructions provided in the manual. Warranty repairs require the date and proof of purchase.
