To mount the IR diodes and LED on the Velleman K4101/K6710 15 Channel Infrared Transmitter, follow these steps:
1. Mounting the IR diodes:
- Fit the IR diodes LD2 through LD4 horizontally and in line with the PCB.
- Pay attention to the polarity of the diodes.
- Pass the shortest lead of each diode through the hole marked "C" on the PCB.
- Bend the leads of the diodes exactly as shown in the drawing.
- Solder one lead of each diode and check their position. If necessary, correct the position by reheating the soldering.
- Solder the second connection of each diode.
2. Mounting the LED:
- Fit LED LD1 at the solder side of the PCB, against the PCB.
- Carefully bend the leads of the LED at the component side so that the longest lead (anode) touches R5 and the shortest lead touches R3.
- Solder the leads of the LED to the resistors.
- Cut the free ends of the leads.
