To install the TRANE XR102 Non-Programmable Thermostat, follow these steps:
1. Turn off all power to the heating and cooling equipment.
2. If you are replacing an existing thermostat, record the color and terminal marking of each wire. Disconnect the wires from the existing thermostat and remove it from the wall.
3. Pull the cover off the thermostat body and move the thermostat body over the hole in the wall. Mark the mounting hole locations on the wall using the base as a template.
4. Move the base out of the way and drill the mounting holes. If you are using existing mounting holes, pull the thermostat wire bundle through the hole in the thermostat base. Mount the sub-base to the wall, ensuring it is level.
5. Connect the wires to the terminal block on the base using the appropriate wiring diagram.
6. Push any excess wire into the wall and plug the hole with a fire-resistant material, such as fiberglass insulation, to prevent drafts from affecting thermostat operation.
7. Remove the battery tag to engage the two included "AAA" alkaline batteries.
8. Replace the thermostat cover on the wall.
Please note that these instructions are a general guide, and it is important to refer to the specific installation guide provided with the thermostat for detailed instructions and any additional steps or considerations specific to your installation.
