To install the TRANE XR103 Non-Programmable Heat Pump Thermostat, follow these steps:
1. Turn off all power to the heating and cooling equipment.
2. If you are replacing an existing thermostat, record the color and terminal marking of each wire. Disconnect the wires from the existing thermostat and remove it from the wall.
3. Pull the cover off the thermostat body and move the base over the hole in the wall. Mark the mounting hole locations on the wall using the base as a template.
4. Move the base out of the way and drill the mounting holes. If you are using existing mounting holes, pull the thermostat wire bundle through the hole in the thermostat base. Secure the sub-base to the wall.
5. Connect the wires to the terminal block on the base using the appropriate wiring diagram.
6. Push any excess wire into the wall and plug the hole with a fire-resistant material to prevent drafts from affecting thermostat operation.
7. Two "AAA" alkaline batteries are included in the thermostat. Remove the battery tag to engage the batteries.
8. Mount the thermostat body onto the sub-base and secure it with the provided screws.
9. The thermostat is now installed and ready for use.
Please note that these are general installation instructions. It is important to refer to the TRANE XR103 Non-Programmable Heat Pump Thermostat User Guide for specific instructions and wiring diagrams for your particular installation.
