To install the FIREMAGIC 3092B 1 Hour Automatic Barbecue Timer Gas Shut Off Valve, follow these steps:
1. Make sure to comply with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, follow the National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1/NFPA54, or the Natural Gas & Propane Installation Code, CSA 8149.1, as applicable.
2. Install the timer in-line between the shut-off valve and the gas appliance.
3. Place the timer at least 18" away from the appliance to prevent overheating and damage.
4. Ensure the timer is within 6 feet of the appliance and easily accessible if located within the appliance enclosure.
5. Protect the timer from high temperatures and outdoor elements.
6. Use pipe joint compound resistant to all gases on all NPT fittings, except flare fittings. Leak test all connections.
To operate the timer:
1. Set the dial to the desired time to shut off by turning it clockwise. The dial is marked in 3 twenty-minute increments, and any position in between is an estimate of that set time.
2. The timer dial will auto rotate counter-clockwise and shut off the gas supply when it reaches the "OFF" position, indicating the desired time is completed.
Important: If using the timer for periods of less than twenty minutes, first set the dial to 20 minutes (to activate), then return it counter-clockwise to the desired amount of time. This ensures proper timer operation.
After each use, follow these safety steps:
1. Make sure the appliance control knobs are in the "OFF" position.
2. Turn off the gas supply shut-off valve.
3. If the timer is on, slowly turn it to the "OFF" position.
