To mount the Apogee SP-110 Silicon Cell Pyranometer, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Choose a solid surface to mount the sensor. It should be level to accurately measure the incident radiation.
2. Use the nylon mounting xxxx provided to secure the sensor to the surface.
3. If you are mounting the sensor on a flat surface or on surfaces like wood, it is recommended to use the Apogee Instruments model AL-100 Leveling Plate to ensure the sensor is level.
4. If you plan to mount the sensor on a mast or pipe, it is recommended to use the Apogee Instruments model AL-120 Solar Mounting Bracket with Leveling Plate for easier installation.
5. For the SP-230 model, there is a plastic standoff included. Place the standoff between the sensor head and the leveling plate to optimize the use of the internal heaters.
6. To minimize azimuth error, orient the cable to point towards true north in the northern hemisphere or true south in the southern hemisphere. This will help minimize any measurement errors.
7. Ensure that there are no obstructions, such as weather station tripod/tower or other instrumentation, that shade the sensor.
8. Once mounted, remove the green cap from the sensor. You can use the green cap as a protective covering for the sensor when it is not in use.
Please refer to the Apogee SP-110 Silicon Cell Pyranometer Owner's Manual for more detailed instructions and illustrations on mounting the sensor.
