1. Begin by jacking and leveling the car using jacking points, rocker panel pinch welds, or the front or rear frame rails. Ensure the car is level from front to rear and left to right.
2. Remove all seats, consoles, and carpeting. Cover and protect the windows and door/interior panels from grinding and welding sparks.
3. Reinstall the rear seat cushion. Place the main roll bar hoop just in front of it. Check the fit of the main hoop inside the vehicle and make any necessary trimming to ensure proper fit.
4. Mark the floor area to be prepared for installation of the 6" x 6" x 1/8" thick mounting plates. Clean the mounting area of the floor to bare metal, 1" away from the actual weld location. Form the steel plates to conform to the floor pan and/or rocker panels at their mounting points, then tack weld them in place.
5. Tack weld the main hoop in place, ensuring it is positioned correctly and has equal spacing from left to right.
6. To install the left (driver's side) cage leg, remove the dash cover and make a cut-out in the dash slightly larger than the diameter of the roll bar tubing. Locate the hole position in the dash, remove the windshield post trim, and measure along the dash pad edge 1-3/4" inward to mark the center of the hole. Cut away some of the inner plastic dash structure to allow the cage leg to pass through. Unbolt the steering column and remove the factory air conditioning (dash) ductwork and defrost ductwork.
7. Unbolt the entire dash and rotate it rearward until the left cage leg can be slid through the hole made in the dash. Rotate both the dash and the cage leg back into position.
8. Install the right (passenger's side) cage leg by marking the center point of the hole to be made, located 2-1/4" to the right of the airbag cover along the front edge of the dash pad. Cut out a half round in both the dash pad and the stationary portion of the dash for the bar to pass through. Test fit the right cage leg through the dash, then replace the dash pad and install the cage legs through the pad and dashboard.
9. Gradually trim and notch the main hoop end of the cage legs for proper fit. Mark the leg for trimming while holding it against the main hoop, leaving 1" extra for notching. Trim about 1/8" at a time until the cage leg slips into position, hugging the roof line as closely as possible.
10. Prepare the front floor area for welding of the mounting plates, following the same process as the rear. Tack weld the mounting plates in position, then slide the cage side hoops into place and tack weld them as well.
11. Trim and notch the windshield bar for proper fit between the rearview mirror and the headliner panel. Measure the width of the roll cage across the vehicle just in front of the headliner and mark the target location on each cage leg. Trim the windshield bar, allowing an extra 1" at each end for notching. Notch the bar gradually until it fits properly. Tack into place, re-check position, and finish weld.
