To configure the deployment duration or release date for the mrPAT tag, you will need to use the Tag Agent Software. Here are the steps:
1. Open the Tag Agent Software on your Windows computer.
2. Connect the mrPAT tag to your computer using the Wildlife Computers communications cable.
3. Ensure that the pins are aligned properly when plugging in the tag.
4. Swipe a magnet near the tag communication port to establish a connection. The tag LED will turn orange, and the Tag Agent home screen will appear.
5. If the tag is new or was previously programmed by another user, a pop-up box will appear asking if you want to take ownership of the tag. Select "Yes" to become the tag administrator.
6. In the Tag Agent Software, select the "Administer Tag" button in the upper menu.
7. A new window will open with two sections: Tag Information and Tag Release Sequence.
8. Under the Tag Information tab, you can find information about the tag type, serial number, tagware version, and Argos settings. You can also enter an optional user-definable label in the Tag Name field.
9. Under the Tag Release Sequence section, you can choose to set the release based on a specified deployment duration or a specific calendar date.
- If you select an interval duration, the release will be initiated at the same time of day when the deployment was detected. For example, if the deployment was scheduled for five days starting on May 1, 2017, at 18:00 UTC, the release sequence will start on May 6, 2017, at 17:59 UTC, five days from the deployment.
- If you select a specific calendar date, the release will be initiated at midnight UTC on the release date, regardless of the time of day the deployment was detected. For example, if the deployment was on May 1, 2017, at 18:00 UTC, with a release date of May 6, 2017, the release sequence will start on May 6, 2017, at 00:00 UTC, four days and six hours from the deployment.
10. Once you have set the desired deployment duration or release date, click the blue "Send Changes" button to load the settings into the tag. Tag Agent will confirm the receipt of settings via a dialog box.
11. You can check for setting updates at any time by clicking on the "Check for Updates" tab on the top left navigation bar of the Tag Agent home screen.
Remember to disconnect the tag properly using the "Disconnect Tag" tab before unplugging it from your computer.
