To switch on the BLACK DIAMOND RECON X, move the slider lock to the left and the slider upwards into the SEARCH position. Release the slider lock and move the slider downwards until it locks in the SEND position. The display will show the firmware version, battery capacity, self-check progress, self-check result, and the SEND display with the active transmitting antenna.
To perform a self-check, ensure that there are no electronic, magnetic, or metallic sources of interference within a minimum distance of 5 meters. The self-check is automatically initiated when the device is switched on. If the self-check is successful, "OK" will be indicated on the display. If there is an error, an alert signal will sound and an error code will be displayed. Refer to chapter 6.1 of the manual for a list of error codes and their meanings.
It is important to perform a beacon mode check (SEND check and SEARCH check) prior to every tour to ensure that both the SEND and SEARCH modes are functioning correctly.
