To install the HILTI CP 674 Fire cavity barrier with preformed joints, follow these steps:
1. For exterior corners, fit the CP 674 barrier to extend past the corner by the width of the barrier. Remove a section of mineral wool from the back of the barrier to the corner, leaving the intumescent strip. Coat the back of the intumescent facing strip with CP 606/CFS-S ACR. Take a section of the CP 674 barrier for the other wall face and position the end to the intumescent strip from the previous step. Fix the barrier to the substrate and ensure proper alignment and flush surfaces.
2. For butt joints, the cavity barriers must tightly abut one another. They can be installed non-ventilated first and then ventilated, or vice versa.
3. If there are space constraints and brackets need to be installed below the barrier, they should be protected. Use 50 mm CP 670 (coated board) to protect the brackets when they cannot be fixed above the cavity barrier due to access constraints.
Please refer to the HILTI CP 674 Fire cavity barrier (non-ventilated) - Preformed joints Instruction Manual for more detailed installation instructions and illustrations.
