To ensure the best results for your custom fabric wristbands, it is important to follow the artwork preparation guidelines provided by GoToTags. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to prepare your artwork:
1. Place all artwork elements in the "Customer Artwork" parent layer: Make sure to organize your artwork elements within this layer to keep everything organized.
2. Do not modify the template: It is crucial not to make any modifications to the provided template. Use it as is to ensure accurate printing.
3. Use vector graphics for all elements except images: Vector graphics ensure high-quality and scalable artwork. Only use images for specific elements that require them.
4. Use high-quality images of at least 300 dpi: For any images used, make sure they have a resolution of at least 300 dots per inch (dpi) to maintain clarity and sharpness.
5. Embed images into the file: Instead of linking images, embed them into the file. This ensures that all necessary image data is included when submitting the artwork.
6. Lines should be 0.5 pt or thicker: To ensure visibility and legibility, make sure any lines in your artwork are at least 0.5 points thick.
7. Avoid including a line or border around the artwork edge: Adding a line or border around the artwork edge may not produce desirable results. It is best to avoid this.
8. Convert text to outlines (unless it's variable text): To prevent font-related issues, convert all text to outlines unless it is variable text that needs to be editable.
9. Text should generally be 7 pt or higher: To ensure readability, make sure your text is at least 7 points or higher in size.
10. Provide examples for variable elements: If your artwork includes variable elements like text or barcodes, provide examples of their position, size, and font in the "Variable Elements" layer.
11. Barcodes require a white "quiet zone" border: If you include barcodes, make sure they have a white border around them known as the "quiet zone." This ensures scannability, and black barcodes are recommended.
12. Include PMS color codes if used: If you use PMS colors in your artwork, include the PMS color code in the layer name to ensure accurate color reproduction.
13. Do not flatten layers before saving: Keep your artwork layers intact and do not flatten them before saving the file.
14. Edit and save the file in CMYK color mode: Make sure your file is edited and saved in the CMYK color mode, which is suitable for printing.
15. Save the file in Adobe Illustrator format with PDF compatibility: Save your artwork file in the Adobe Illustrator (.ai) format with "PDF Compatible" enabled to ensure compatibility and ease of use.
Print Lines:
- Bleed: Extend the background of your artwork (if applicable) to fill the bleed line to prevent a white border at the edge. Do not place any artwork elements within this area.
- Trim: The trim area represents the physical product's boundaries. Any artwork outside this area will be trimmed off during production.
- Safe: Keep all essential artwork elements (text, logos, icons, etc.) within the safe area to ensure they are printed accurately. The background artwork (if applicable) should extend to the bleed line.
Additional Information: It is important to note that GoToTags has a printing accuracy of ± 1.0 mm and cannot guarantee jobs with a print tolerance less than ± 1.0 mm.
