To install the NICOR 11128 Double Cone 150-Watt Bronze 2-Light Outdoor Flood Light, follow these steps:
1. Check the contents of the box to ensure you have received all the necessary components, including the spotlight fixture, mounting plate, mounting hardware, secure xxxx , and wire connectors. If anything is missing, contact NICOR Lighting.
2. If you are replacing an existing fixture, make sure the electricity is turned off. Disconnect the old fixture and remove it completely, exposing the supply wiring from inside the junction box.
3. Fasten the mounting plate to the junction box using the screws provided.
4. Before starting the installation, disconnect the power by turning off the circuit breaker or removing the fuse at the fuse box. Do not rely on just turning off the light switch.
5. Make sure to read the instructions and review the diagram thoroughly before beginning the installation.
6. All electrical connections must be done in accordance with local codes, ordinances, or the National Electrical Code. If you are not familiar with electrical wiring, it is recommended to hire a qualified licensed electrician.
7. The junction box must be supported by a building structure.
8. To make the electrical connections, connect the white wire(s) from the fixture to the white wire(s) of the supply circuit in the junction box. Connect the black wire(s) from the fixture to the black wire(s) of the supply circuit in the junction box. Attach the green grounding wire (or bare copper wire) from the supply circuit in the junction box to the green grounding attachment xxxx on the mounting plate. Ensure that both ground wires (from the fixture and the supply circuit) are in contact and secured by the grounding xxxx .
9. Spread the electrical wires within the junction box so that the black wires are on one side and the white wires are on the other side.
10. Place the fixture against the junction box surface, aligning the threaded hole on the mounting plate with the center hole on the fixture. Secure the fixture to the mounting plate using the large secure xxxx provided.
11. Install the light bulb (not included) according to the recommended maximum wattage and bulb type indicated on the lamping label located within the inner spotlight aperture.
12. Caulk around the circumference of the cover plate with RTV or silicon caulking to reduce the chance of water penetrating into the junction box for outdoor installations. Leave the bottom part of the cover plate clear of caulking to allow moisture to escape.
13. Adjust the fixture head(s) to the desired location by loosening the nut(s) on the fixture arm. Once the head(s) are in the desired position, tighten the nut(s) to secure the fixture heads in place.
