To set up and level the iOptron HAE Strain Wave Gear AZ/EQ GoTo Mount, follow these steps:
1. Set up the tripod: Start by setting up and leveling the tripod. Adjust the tripod height and tighten the tripod locking xxxx to secure it. Thread the Alignment Peg onto the tripod head, either on top of a tripod leg or between two legs, depending on the latitude.
2. Attach the mount head: Retract the 2x Azimuth (Azi) Adjustment Screws from both sides to create space for the alignment peg. Fit the alignment peg between the Azi Adjustment Screws and tighten the Azi Locking Screws into the M6 holes on the tripod. Use the built-in Bubble Level Indicator or an external leveler to level the mount. Adjust the tripod legs if necessary.
3. Adjust the latitude: Without any payload, remove the Latitude Range Bolt and loosen the Latitude Locking xxxx . Use the Latitude Adjustment xxxx to move the mount to the proper latitude range and thread in the Latitude Range Bolt. Fine-tune the latitude to the corrected value. Tighten the Latitude Locking xxxx . There are four latitude ranges available: 0°~22°, 22°~45°, 45°~67°, and 67°~90°. Select the appropriate range for your location.
4. Install the telescope: The HAE mount accepts a Vixen or a Losmandy-D dovetail mounting bar. Release the dovetail Saddle Locking Lever and slide the telescope dovetail plate into the saddle. Make sure the arrow sign on the saddle is pointing forward. Tighten the Saddle Locking xxxx to secure the telescope. If you want to convert the dovetail saddle from a Vixen-type to a Losmandy-type, follow the instructions in the manual.
By following these steps, you can properly set up and level the iOptron HAE Strain Wave Gear AZ/EQ GoTo Mount for your observing session. For more detailed instructions and illustrations, refer to the User's Manual provided with the product.
