To connect the IQ WiFi 6 router to your existing network, follow these steps:
1. Connect one end of the provided ethernet cable into the "ETHERNET" port on your modem. If you are performing a parallel installation, plug the ethernet cable into an available port on your existing router instead.
2. Connect the other end of the ethernet cable into the "WAN" port on the IQ WiFi 6 controller.
3. Plug the barrel jack end of the power supply into the "DC-IN" port on the controller. Do not plug the power supply into the outlet yet.
4. Plug the power supply into the wall outlet. The router will take about 6 minutes to power up and identify as a controller. The power LED will stop flashing when it is ready. If a software update is needed, the router will automatically download and install it, which may take an additional 2 minutes.
5. While waiting for the agents to pair, power up any additional agents by following step 3.
6. If you need to add one or more agents, power them up and wait until the controller and agent LEDs are solid green. Press the WPS button on the controller, then press the WPS button on the agent. Allow up to 7 minutes for the pairing, updating, and configuring process to finish for each agent.
7. To pair the controller to your IQ Panel, open the settings tray on the panel and go to Settings > Advanced Settings. Enter a valid dealer or install code, then select WiFi. Look for the broadcasting SSID or network name (SSID will be IQ_WiFi_XXXXXX) and touch it. Enter the password printed on the sticker or bottom of the router (case sensitive). Touch "connect" and the panel will transition to the security SSID automatically.
8. If desired, you can rename your network (SSID) by opening the settings tray on the IQ Panel, going to Settings > Advanced Settings, and typing in a valid code. Select Installation, Devices, WiFi Devices, and then touch the IQ WiFi icon. Use the down arrows to make edits to the network name (SSID) and enter a unique name. Note that changing default settings may cause all nodes to reboot.
9. To connect devices to your network, the IQ WiFi 6 broadcasts three distinct network names or SSIDs: the main network, a guest network, and a security network. Connect all Wi-Fi devices to the main or guest network first. 1Q Panels and Secondary Keypads will automatically move to the security network. Alarm.com Cameras and Doorbells can be manually moved to the security network from Mobile Tech, the Partner Portal, or the End User website.
10. The IQ WiFi 6 can be managed by the homeowner either directly from the Alarm.com app or from the dedicated 1Q WiFi app. If using Alarm.com, ensure that the controller is added to the ADC account. If not using Alarm.com, download the dedicated iQ WiFi app from the iTunes/App Store or Google Play store.
