To install the MAGNETROL T62 Side Mounting Liquid Level Controls, follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Unpack the instrument carefully and inspect all components for damage. Report any damage to the carrier within 24 hours.
2. Check the contents of the packing slip and ensure that it matches the model number on the nameplate. Record the serial number for future reference.
3. Assemble the float and stem to the sensing unit. Remove the xxxx from the end of the fulcrum bar and replace it with the float stem. Make sure the end of the float stem sets completely in the groove of the fulcrum pin. Tighten the lock nut with a wrench.
4. Before mounting the control to the tank or vessel, check the threaded or flanged mounting nozzle. The nozzle length and inside diameter must be sized correctly to allow for switch actuation at design levels. The nozzle should also be checked for horizontal alignment. The control switch housing should be within 3 degrees of vertical for proper operation.
5. Wiring: All units are shipped with the cable entry of the switch housing placed 90 degrees opposite the tank connections. If the location of the cable entry is appropriate, proceed to wiring the unit. If another configuration is desired, the switch housing can be rotated. Loosen the set xxxx (s) at the base of the switch housing, rotate the housing to the desired position, and tighten the set xxxx (s). Unscrew and remove the switch housing cover.
6. Connect the supply wires through the cable entry and route them around the enclosing tube under the baffle plate. Connect the wires to the proper terminals according to the wiring diagram. Dress the wiring to ensure no interference or contact with the switch actuation arm.
7. Install approved cable glands to prevent moisture seepage into the enclosure. For units with explosion-proof housing, do not power the unit until the cable gland is sealed and the enclosure cover is screwed down securely.
8. Replace the housing cover and retighten the locking xxxx . Test the switch action by varying the liquid level in the tank or vessel.
Note: If the switch mechanism fails to function properly, check the vertical alignment of the control housing and consult the installation bulletin on switch mechanisms furnished.
