Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install the Evolution Powersports 2017-2021 X3 Dash Cluster Reflash Bundle:
1. Gather the required tools: Unibit (Step Bit) 1 1/4", 1/2" Drill Bit, Push Dart Tool, T-40 Torx Socket, Sider Cutters, Welder (02 Bung), Loctite/Anti-Seize/Silicone, Velcro, Rubber Grommet (1-1/4"), Zip Ties.
2. Note that for 2017-2019 dashes, they need to be sent into Evolution Powersports to be reflashed. CodeShooter can only reflash dash's 2020+ Can Am models (Non 2021 RR).
3. Install the Dash Cluster back into your vehicle after receiving it back from Evolution Powersports.
4. To display boost on the top spot of your dash (2017-2019 models), press the "M" button on the cluster once, causing the top values to blink. Press the "S" button until you see boost or 000 displayed. The values will stop blinking in about 5 seconds, and boost will be stored. If you want boost displayed on the bottom set of values, press the "M" button twice and repeat the steps above.
5. To display boost on the top spot of your dash (2020+ models), press the "Menu" button on the button cluster. This will cause the top values to blink. Keep toggling through until you see boost displayed on the dash cluster.
6. To install the AFR Module, weld a bung into the exhaust system (if your exhaust has only one AFR sensor port). Instructions for welding the bung can be found on the Evolution Powersports website under "Auxiliary 02 Bung Instructions".
7. In the glove box, drill a hole to run the AFR, Belt temp, and Diagnostic port replicator. Run the AFR wiring harness from the AFR sensor through the firewall, underneath the center console, and up to the glove compartment. Zip tie the wiring harness away from heat sources and rotating parts.
8. Using Velcro, install the AFR module in the glove compartment. Ensure that the AFR module is not exposed to water as it is not waterproof.
9. Plug in the EVP port replicator and run auxiliary ports into the glove compartment. Plug in the AFR module into one of the free ports on the port replicator.
10. To display AFR on the top spot of your dash (2017-2019 models), press the "M" button on the cluster once, causing the top values to blink. Then press the "S" button until you see 58 3 (the highest AFR value) displayed. The values will stop blinking in about 5 seconds, and AFR will be stored. If you want AFR displayed on the bottom set of values, press the "M" button twice and repeat the steps above.
11. To display AFR on the top spot of your dash (2020+ models), press the "Menu" button on the button cluster. This will cause the top values to blink. Keep toggling through until you see AFR displayed on the dash cluster.
12. To install the Belt Temp Module, remove the clutch cover and drill a 1/2" hole into the clutch housing directly above the center of the belt. The hole should be perpendicular to the surface of the belt and as close to the center between the primary and secondary clutches.
13. Use the supplied locknuts to secure the sensor, using Loctite on the nuts.
14. Run cabling from the belt temp sensor through the firewall, underneath the center console, and up to the glove compartment.
15. Using Velcro, install the belt temp module in the glove compartment. Ensure that the belt temp module is not exposed to water as it is not waterproof.
16. Plug in the EVP port replicator and run auxiliary ports into the glove compartment. Plug in the AFR module into one of the free ports on the port replicator.
17. To display Belt Temp on the top spot of your dash (2017-2019 models), press the "M" button on the cluster once, causing the top values to blink. Then press the "S" button until you see the Belt Temp value. The values will stop blinking in about 5 seconds, and Belt Temp will be stored. If you want Boost or AFR displayed on the bottom set of values, press the "M" button twice and repeat the steps above.
18. To display Belt Temp on the top spot of your dash (2020+ models), press the "Menu" button on the button cluster. This will cause the top values to blink. Keep toggling through until you see Belt Temp displayed on the dash cluster.
19. Measure the hole you drilled in the glove compartment and purchase a rubber grommet. Wrap the wires through the grommet and push it into the glove compartment. Silicone the outside of the grommet to keep water and debris out of the compartment.
