To connect and set up the kvm-tec Gateway KT-6851 for virtual machine usage, please follow these steps:
1. Connect the CON/Remote Unit and the Gateway using the supplied 12V 1A power supply.
2. Connect your keyboard and mouse to the remote unit.
3. Connect the gateway and the remote unit with a network cable.
4. Connect the screen on the remote side using a DVI cable.
5. Connect the Remote audio/out to speakers or headphones using the audio cable.
6. Connect the gateway to the Internet using a network cable via the LAN port.
Once these connections are made, your kvm-tec Gateway is ready for virtual machine usage.
For RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) operation:
- Enter the required parameters for the RDP connection, including Name (user-defined), Username (PC user name), Password (user password), Server (server address or name), and Domain (RDP server domain name).
- Optionally, you can enable/disable the "Favoritise" option to sort connections on the main page.
- Press the "Finish Adding" button to save the RDP connection.
For VNC (Virtual Network Computing) operation:
- Select the VNC connection type.
- Enter the parameters, including Name (user-defined) and Server (server address or name).
- Optionally, you can enable/disable the "Favoritise" option to sort connections on the main page.
- Press the "Finish Adding" button to save the VNC connection.
The kvm-tec Gateway features a power/status LED display, RDP/VNC status, DC connection for power supply, LAN connection, reset button, kvm-link connection for CAT X cable to KVM network, and a power/status LED display for the extender status.
You can also customize the operating system by creating and renaming up to 4 desktops using the Desktop feature. To switch between desktops, use the key combination "Windows key" + "F1" to "F4" or "Tab" + "Mouse wheel rotation". Note that simultaneous access to multiple desktops is not possible.
To delete a saved RDP or VNC connection, select the connection on the main page and press the "Trash can" button in the Delete column.
