According to the user guide, to avoid cracking and splitting of the wood butcher block surface, it is important to seal or finish the countertop within 48 hours. You can use oil or oil-wax to finish the countertop. Strictly follow the manufacturer's instructions for the use of any oil or oil wax. The protective coating is sufficient when water remains on the countertop after a spill, without spreading and penetrating the wood. It is recommended to oil the countertop every three to six months to restore the coating, or whenever the surface begins to tarnish or drops of spilled water lose their natural shape and penetrate into the wood. Alternatively, you can use low-maintenance options such as polyurethane, as long as they provide equal protection against moisture. Please refer to the finish manufacturer's instructions for application details.
