To use the MACHEREY-NAGEL 985 049 Test 0-49 NANOCOLOR Silver 3, follow the instructions provided in the manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Requisite accessories: You will need a piston pipette with tips for accurate measurement.
2. Reagent set: The reagent set includes 20 test tubes of Silver 3. It contains:
- 1 test tube with 11 mL of Silver 3 R2
- 1 test tube with 11 mL of Silver 3 R3
3. Interferences: The test is not able to detect silver compounds like silver bromide, silver chloride, silver iodide, silver cyanide, or silver thiocyanate. These compounds can be determined after pretreatment with NANOCOLOR NanOx Metal (REF 918 978). Certain ions will not interfere with the test, including:
- < 1000 mg/L of Pb2+, F–, NO3–, SO42–
- < 500 mg/L of PO4 3–
- < 200 mg/L of Mn2+, Ni2+
- < 100 mg/L of Al3+, Cr(III)
- < 50 mg/L of Cd2+
- < 20 mg/L of Ca2+, Cu2+, Fe3+, Hg2+, Mg2+, Zn2+
- < 10 mg/L of Cr(VI), Mo(VI)
4. Procedure:
- Lower silver concentrations (0.08–0.50 mg/L Ag+) can be determined using 50 mm semi-micro cuvettes (REF 919 50). Pour the contents of the test tubes into the cuvettes and measure after 10 minutes using method 1491.
5. Measurement:
- For NANOCOLOR photometers, refer to the manual for test 0-49.
- If the samples are colored or turbid, use the correction value key provided in the manual for NANOCOLOR photometers.
- For photometers of other manufacturers, check if measurement of round glass tubes is possible. Verify the factor for each type of instrument by measuring standard solutions.
