To install the ICM CONTROLS ICM870 9A Soft Start Series, follow these steps:
1. Turn off power at the main service panel before starting the installation.
2. Ensure that the ICM870 is mounted in an area where it will not be exposed to water or the elements. Exposure to water can cause control failure and pose electrical safety hazards.
3. It is recommended to have the installation done by a certified HVAC technician or licensed electrician, following local, state, and national electrical codes.
4. If replacing an existing soft start or during a new installation, remove any existing start capacitor from the circuit.
5. Mount the ICM870 Soft Start inside the electrical box or in an area outside the box using double-sided adhesive tape and the provided mounting screws.
6. Orient the ICM870 in a position where the wire loom faces the bottom of the control.
7. Wire in the ICM870 according to the wiring diagram provided in the installation guide using the provided wiring kit.
8. Once the installation is complete, turn on the power and verify proper operation.
