To clean and store the LabSen 553 Spear pH Electrode, follow these steps:
1. Connect the BNC and RCA plug to the input on the pH meter.
2. Pull off the rubber cover and set it aside. Do not pour out the KCl solution.
3. Rinse the electrode with distilled water.
4. After use, put the electrode back in the rubber cover.
5. If the electrode has been exposed to air for a long time, the polymer electrolyte may shrink. To prevent this, soak the electrode in 3M KCl solution for storage.
6. After long-term soaking, some floccules may dissolve out from the 3M KCl solution. This is a normal phenomenon.
7. The measuring tip of the electrode should be soaked in a soaking cover containing a certain amount of storage solution to keep the membrane hydrated and the junction unblocked.
8. Clean the cover and replace the storage solution if it becomes turbid and mildewed. Do not soak the electrode in pure water or buffer solution for a long time.
9. Keep the connector of the electrode clean and dry. If it becomes contaminated, clean it with medical cotton and absolute alcohol, and blow dry it to prevent short circuits and slow reaction of the electrode.
10. When using the Spear pH Electrode to measure wet solid or semi-solid medium, please pierce it evenly to prevent damage to the electrode. If the sample medium is too hard, such as meat or fruit, it is recommended to cut a small hole before piercing the electrode into it.
11. After one year of use, it is recommended to replace the electrode to ensure the best accuracy.
Please note that these instructions are based on the LabSen 553 Spear pH Electrode User Manual provided by APERA INSTRUMENTS.
