To descale or clean the Philips HI5914-36R1 Steam Generator Iron, follow the instructions provided in the user manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Ensure that the iron is unplugged and cooled down before starting the descaling process.
2. Fill the water tank with water up to the maximum level indicated.
3. Place a container under the steam generator to collect the water and scale residue.
4. Connect the steam generator to the power supply and switch it on.
5. Press the Calc-Clean button on the control panel for at least 3 seconds to start the descaling process. The Calc-Clean light will start blinking.
6. The steam generator will start generating steam and pumping it out through the soleplate. The water and scale residue will be flushed out into the container.
7. Allow the descaling process to complete. This may take several minutes.
8. Once the descaling process is finished, the Calc-Clean light will stop blinking.
9. Switch off the steam generator and unplug it from the power supply.
10. Empty the water tank and rinse it thoroughly to remove any remaining scale residue.
11. Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth to remove any scale or residue.
12. Repeat the descaling process if necessary, especially if the steam output is still affected by scale buildup.
