To perform a colorimetric test using the MACHEREY-NAGEL visocolor ECO Nitrate Test Kit, follow these steps:
1. Pour a 5 mL water sample into each of the measuring glasses using the plastic syringe. Place one measuring glass on position A in the comparator.
2. Add 5 drops of NO3-1 reagent to the measuring glass on position B. Seal the glass and mix the contents.
3. Add 1 level measuring spoonful of NO3-2 reagent to the measuring glass on position B. Seal the glass and immediately shake the mixture well for 1 minute.
4. Open the glass after 5 minutes and place it on position B in the comparator.
5. Slide the comparator until the colors in the inspection hole on top match. Check the measurement reading in the recess on the comparator reed. Mid-values can be estimated.
6. After use, rinse out both measuring glasses thoroughly and seal them.
Note: The reagents can also be used for photometric evaluation with the photo-meter PF-12/PF-12Plus. This technique can also be used for analyzing seawater (refer to the "Conversion table" in the manual).
