The OMNIVISION OV7251 VGA camera sensor offers multiple low-power modes to help reduce power consumption. One of these modes is the light sensing mode, where the sensor behaves like an Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) and wakes up from "sleep mode" only when a change in light has been detected. This mode can be useful in applications where the camera sensor is not constantly needed but only activated when there is a change in lighting conditions.
Additionally, the sensor has an ultra-low power mode where it can reduce the resolution and frame rates to further reduce power consumption. This mode is suitable for applications where lower image quality or slower frame rates are acceptable.
For more information on how to enable and configure these low-power modes, please refer to the OV7251 VGA Product Brief Owner's Manual provided by OMNIVISION.
